Gerardo Acu\u00f1a\u00a0Rivera <\/strong>is a mexican born Classical guitarrist who started his music studies in Mexico with Alfredo Rovelo, Marco Antonio Anguiano <\/em>y Juan Carlos Laguna<\/em> at the School of Music, at the National University of Mexico. He continued his undergraduate studies in Classical Guitar with Jos\u00e9 Luis Rodrigo<\/em> at the Royal Conservatory of Music, Madrid, Spain.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n
In 2001, the Carolina Foundation awarded Gerardo the Robert Stevenson scholarship<\/em> to pursue a further degree in Musicology at the Royal Conservatory of Music, Madrid, Spain. Also, T<\/em>he National Fund for Culture and the Arts (FONCA, Mexico) <\/em>awarded him a fellowship to study with the musicologist and guitarrist Gerardo Arriaga, in Madrid, Spain<\/em>.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n His musical career has been enriched by his participation in Masterclasses with\u00a0 renown Guitarrists such as Leo Brouwer, Iv\u00e1n Rijos, Pepe Romero, Hopkinson Smith <\/em>y Carmen Ros<\/em>.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n Special mention has to be given to Gerardo\u2019s studies with Ernesto Garc\u00eda de Le\u00f3n, Mexican composer and guitarrist, with whom <\/em>he worked for a period of more than five years to master his musical knowledge and guitar techniques.<\/em><\/p>\n <\/p>\n To complement his musical career, Gerardo also undertook a University degree in Political Science.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n Throughout his music career, Gerardo has won a number of guitar contests such as the Contest for Young Instrumentalists by the National University of Mexico; the Gabriella Laserre de Chapard contest; the tribute to Juan Helguera Contest; and the National Contest for Guitar organised by the University of Veracruz in Mexico.<\/em><\/p>\n <\/p>\n Gerardo has been invited to perform at different national and international classical guitar festivals and events such as The First National Festival of Young Guitarrists (Mexico City); Fifth International Guitar Festival (Paracho, Michacan, Mexico); Festival Mascara (Mexico City); Second Festival of Classical Guitar (Queretaro, Mexico); First International Festival of Young Guitarrists (Mexico City);
